breeam assessment for code for sustainable homes

The Buildings Research Establishment (BRE) has developed a series of assessment methodologies designed as a framework within which to assess the sustainability of new build developments and refurbishments. These methods award credits on the basis of the sustainability of the developments design, which includes ecological considerations such as site selection, habitat creation and the selection of plant species for inclusion in the landscape scheme. Where an ecologist is involved at an early stage in a development, a subsequent ecological assessment can be used as a basis for assessment of credit availability.

ECUS frequently undertake ecological surveys and assessments for projects registered under BREEAM, EcoHomes, EcoHomes (Bespoke) and Code for Sustainable Homes schemes. Our ecologists are experienced site assessors and protected species surveyors. ECUS staff work closely with project teams to enhance the environmental benefits of schemes, taking into account the individuality of each site, and maximize their credit gain.
