contaminated land investigation

Making use of extensive contaminated land investigation experience, ECUS Ltd work with a wide range of subcontractors to provide clients with a cost effective, hassle-free service. Investigations are designed within a risk-based framework and are undertaken by experienced field crews. This approach ensures that reporting is always site specific and designed to meet the investigation objectives.

Phase 1 and Phase 2 Site Investigations can be used to:

  • Obtain planning permission
  • Secure funding
  • Manage project risks
  • Understand liabilities

The Phase 1 Site Investigation is usually completed within one or two weeks of receiving a commission and includes:

  • Site walkover
  • Historical land use review
  • Geological and hydrogeological site assessment
  • Regulatory liaison
  • Conceptual modelling
  • Reporting

We also specialise in desk-top geotechnical and coal mining assessments.

The costs and recommendations for Phase 2 Site Investigations are dependent upon the outcome of the Phase 1 Site Investigation. We can provide:

  • Intrusive works: trial pitting, window sampling, cable percussion and rotary drilling
  • On-site geotechnical testing including soakaway testing
  • Design and construction of groundwater and gas monitoring wells
  • Logging of ground conditions in accordance with British Standards and recovery of soil samples
  • Groundwater monitoring and sampling
  • Ground gas monitoring
  • Chemical analysis at MCERTS accredited laboratories
  • Data interpretation and reporting
