ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT
Environmental Assessment is a critical tool in the UK planning process providing a framework by which environmental impacts of proposed developments are predicted and used to influence decision making. Drawing upon a wealth of previous experience, ECUS is able to offer a quality assured and thoroughly professional service in all aspects of Environmental Assessment for every stage of the planning process and beyond.
ECUS have been involved in environmental assessment for nearly 20 years.
With experience in both statutory and non-statutory EIA, ECUS is familiar with working to all current EIA–related methodologies, including DMRB, GOMMS and NATA.
Multi-Disciplinary Project Teams
ECUS can provide a full range of EA disciplines in teams tailored to the circumstances of individual projects and managed to ensure an integrated and effective approach. We have expertise in ecology, landscape, land use, contaminated land, water & air quality, archaeology, transport, noise planning and socio-economics.
Our in-house staff are supported by the research and technical staff of fifteen departments within the University if Sheffield.
ECUS is an assessor member of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment and our staff are members of a wide range of professional institutions.
Our multi-disciplinary teams have successfully completed many major project including tidal barrage construction, power stations, quarrying and industrial schemes, road and other linear developments.
Comprehensive Ecological & Landscape Input
Of particular note is our strength in providing comprehensive ecological and landscape input into Environmental Assessment.
We have considerable experience in scoping and managing EA’s from project conception through to post-project appraisal. In addition, we are frequently called upon to audit specialist aspects of Environmental Statements. Our proven approach to this area has been successfully employed in progressing a number of environmentally sensitive projects to the satisfaction of both the statutory consultees and planning authorities.
