Our Chairman, Prof Peter Skipworth, is running a 10k race for the charity, SCCCC, who help the elderly in the community.

The SCCCC’s mission is to ‘provide services that improve wellbeing and quality of life for older and vulnerable people by working in partnership and mobilising volunteers.’  Peter is now also on the Board of Trustees at SCCCC, who ensure good governance and set the strategic direction of the charity. It is made up of a cross-section of individuals from different professional backgrounds who give strategic input into SCCCC to ensure that the charity and its beneficiaries thrive. To see how SCCCC put this into practice please visit their web site:

Pete’s charity run will start on Arundel Gate at 09:30 on 24th September. It goes out along Eccleshall Road,  up Rustlings Road and eventually ends up coming down Brocco Bank and back into town along Eccleshall Road. It finishes in the same place on Arundel Gate, where he is aiming to cross the line in around 50 minutes.

Peter said “I’ve approached this time in recent years but haven’t actually made it. I’m losing a bit of weight but this might not be enough, and losing limbs isn’t really an option. The work that SCCCC does is tremendous and makes life easier and improves the quality of life for the increasing number of elderly in the Sheffield community. It operates via an army of dedicated and selfless volunteers but like all organisations it takes money to operate.”

We wish Peter all the best and hope his training is going to plan!
