At Ecus we pride our service provision as being highly innovative and resourceful, helping to facilitate among other things more cost-effective, sustainable and safe ways of working.

For these reasons we are really pleased to have commissioned Cyberhawk Innovations to undertake drone surveys to support ecological constraints appraisal for two rail projects Ecus is working on in northern Scotland.

Cyberhawk is the world leader in Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) inspection and survey, and the conversion of UAV data into powerful management information. The use of this innovative approach to capture data that would usually be recorded by on-site team walkovers has allowed Ecus to mitigate challenges with securing rail possessions in order to manage programme delivery.

Other benefits are the elimination of Health & Safety risks associated with undertaking field-based work on the rail network.

The data provided by Cyberhawk will be orthophoto to 1.5 cm resolution allowing the Ecus ecology team to identify habitat types and the potential for protected species to inform the constraints appraisal.
