An inspiring, practical and supportive leader, Steve McQuade has 33 years’ experience in environmental consultancy, specialising in multi-disciplinary project leadership, environmental assessment and coordination, consenting and stakeholder engagement. A Chartered Environmentalist, Steve has led the delivery of major schemes under the DCO, Hybrid Bill, Highways Act and Town and Country Planning regimes.

Steve had overall responsibility for all environmental services, including the EIA, for National Highways’ high profile £1.6bn A303 Stonehenge scheme. He led Environment, Cultural Heritage, Engineering and Traffic delivery as the scheme successfully progressed through the DCO Examination stage. Steve was Environment Expert Witness for the A303 Stonehenge Scheme throughout the DCO Examination and has also been expert witness at the Public Inquiries for three other Highways schemes.  Steve was previously the Technical Manager responsible for the EIA for the West Midlands Metropolitan section of the High Speed Two Phase 1 rail project – the largest ever EIA in the UK at that time – and supported HS2 as the Scheme passed successfully through the parliamentary Hybrid Bill process, briefing Queen’s Counsel and HS2 witnesses and attending Select Committee.

In addition to technical leadership and delivery, Steve has over twenty years’ experience delivering results running a multi-disciplinary environment business, including leading the integration, growth and successful performance of a multi-million pound UK & Ireland Environment and Sustainability business.

Steve relishes using his experience and expertise to benefit the environment and the community, empowering and supporting colleagues to develop and thrive while efficiently delivering client goals.
